This is the only place that I will take my dog for boarding! I drive all the way from Falls Church, VA to bring my dog here because they are the best. The dogs get plenty of fresh air, time to run around in a big, fenced yard, and good care. He carefully selects which dogs can socialize with each other. The owner Craig and his wife understand dogs so well. Craig trained dogs for the military as well as the police force. He knows training but also dog mentality along with that he truly loves dogs. It is a winning combination.

Great staff. My Doberman and Lab look forward to their visits. When I enter the gate they get excited. When they exit my car, they do not look back. That is a sign that they enjoy their visits. I no longer have to worry about what to do when I need to go out of town.

I love this place! The owner obviously has a deep understanding of dogs and cares very much about the animals that stay with him, and he completely eased my fears about boarding my dog for the first time. I like that at Dogtown my dog gets plenty of group playtime in large, grassy areas, but also has quiet time to himself and his own private space. When I picked him up he was pleasantly tired, completely happy and relaxed. Even though I live in DC and this isn't the most convenient location for me, I won't board my dog anywhere else.

Our dog just stayed here for a week and had a fantastic time. She even ran around and played with the other dogs, which she never does. I'm definitely going to use this place again--so much better than the kennels I've found in DC.

We now have two dogs and both did an 8 day stay while we cruised out of the country. I was originally concerned with the high summer temps but we've toured the cottages before which are kept comfortable for dogs and are designed like mini pet hotel suites on the inside. We were referred here by a friend who also boarded here before and this is now our dogs' "home away from home" - our go-to place after trying several others in Maryland and Virginia in the past. Both dogs love to see us pull up at the gate and are anxious to jump put of the car and begin their stay. Special requests were made regarding one of our dogs during a recent stay and the owners Craig, Cindi and staff were very attentive to our requests and needs - as always. I've also observed the staff caring for other dogs in their care on different occasions while I was dropping off or picking up and they seem to know and relate to each dog individually - always caring for them in such a loving, caring and attentive manner. (As a side note my husband and I used to be very protective parents of our children growing up, and they could only stay with grandparents when we were away since we trusted their care - it's almost the same now with our dogs -- we had offers from family and friends to dog-sit or board while we traveled, but we prefer the peace of mind leaving them at Dogtown.).

Kevin and I love animals and always had dogs when the kids still lived at home. When our daughter got Lewey (a lab mix) four years ago, she was still living with us, but it was her dog and her responsibility. So, when my daughter persuaded us to get another dog last spring, I was very hesitant. With both Kevin and I working, I was afraid that a dog would spend so much time during the day alone and be bored. But when we went to the rescue shelter and saw Herman, our hearts just melted.
Several of my friends had taken their dogs to daycare up in Montgomery County and were very happy. I had remembered seeing your place during one of our motorcycle rides along Brandywine Road, so I decided to give you a call.
BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. I am so grateful for the wonderful care that Herman receives. It is such a relief knowing that he is not trapped in the house everyday with no one to play with. He loves his new friends and gets excited anytime that we mention any of their names.
You have an amazing facility and a wonderful staff. LaDonna greets Herman every morning and shares videos of him playing with Maggie and Molly during the day. I know that sometimes he can be a handful and has way too much energy for one dog, so I appreciated your patience and understanding with our "little bundle of joy". When he comes home after a day with you and sleeps for the next two hours, I am in heaven. Thank you, thanks you, thank you!

Terry and I are so happy that we discovered your pet service when we were searching for a place to board our babies. We never worry when we leave them in your care. Your and your staff have shown us in so many ways the love and care that your and your staff put into taking care of the most valuable things that we own - our three dogs! I appreciated how you made special accommodations when we I had to drop our babies off before your opening time. When I texted you on several occasions at the last minute to take our babies in and you were able to accommodate us - you did. When on the day that you were closed you allowed us to pick up our baby because he had a doctors appointment that we could not miss. When on the day that you called because you were concerned about the medication that we provided and the affect it was having on our baby. I could go on and on about the special care that you have provided us. I just wanted to send you my testimony and again say thank you for your service. Craig and Cindy and their lovely team were making sure that our Pomeranian puppy felt confortable while we were away from him. They were 1) professional, 2) clean, 3) knowledgable, 4) reassuring to leave a 5-month old puppy with them. Our pup had a lovely roommate and he made friends very quickly. He came home happy and clean. We could not recommend them more!! Thank you DogTown!

Our 2 year old Shih Tzu Rex absolutely loves going to Dogtown. As soon as we pull up and he sees the gate, he starts trying to jump out of the car and window to get inside with the other small dogs. This makes us feel comfortable every time we have to leave him for short or extended stays. It reminds me of a beautiful doggie resort. The owners Craig and Cindi, and the other staff are always extremely helpful and very nice to work with.

I needed a place to board my puppy (48lbs😂). I reviewed several places and settled on Dogtown after staff member Ladonna returned my call and addressed my concerns. I’m so glad I did! The owner Craig took time to talk with me while I was away because I was a little nervous. He even sent me videos of my pooch before I got Instagram. My dog was happy! A few days after picking him up I decided to take him for daycare. I usually have to coax him out of the car. He jumped out before I could even get his leash off and ran to Craig. I’m glad I found this place. The prices are so reasonable. Not a fru fru facility, but safe and adequate with a knowledgeable staff who cares about the dogs. The private houses with run are more than adequate! Heated and Air conditioned. Okay, that’s fru fru. You will want to either have them bathe your dog or do it yourself. They do get dirty. But they’re dogs. That’s what they do🙂 So glad I found this place.

Dear Craig and Cindy,
I am very sad to tell you that Zorro passed away peacefully at home on Saturday. It happened pretty quickly. I was able to have the vet from Lap of Love come to my house to ensure Zorro was comfortable and could have some final warm and loving moments with me in his familiar spot in the house before he passed. He was 14 years old. Until near the end he had been enjoying life, eating well, and loving being outside and with family. However, on Friday he suddenly could not get up or move around anymore. He was a great dog, and we will really miss him.
Zorro’s first visit to Dogtown Maryland was in 2007 when he was a young rambunctious puppy, and you gave him some excellent training that put him on the right path in life. Throughout his long life, he loved his visits to Dogtown. He was always so eager and happy to see you, full of energy and excitement, and he came home to me a happily exhausted and beautifully bathed dog each time. Dogtown was Zorro’s home away from home and it was always a great experience for him, and for me because I knew he was being so well cared for and was having his own vacation with you and his Dogtown friends. Thank you for your excellent care of Zorro over the years.
I took this picture in September 2019 because I thought it was so fun to see how eagerly Zorro waited for the gates to Dogtown to open!
Thank you again for being such an important part of Zorro’s life. You were a great friend to our best friend Zorro and we will always be so grateful for the loving care and the many, many playtimes that you gave him.

We are so blessed to have found Craig and Cindy running the best kennel in the DC area! For 11 years the crew at Dogtown have taken excellent care of our dogs. They first one was Sophie our old girl who needed extra care during her last days. We had to go up north for a long weekend and did not know they had kept her in their own home with them instead of her cottage outside. We did not know this until Sophie had passed away. That to us was the most compassionate thing they could have done for her!
Then after 1 year of morning we got baby Maggie! She is as stubborn as she can be! So when she was of age and all her shots she was off to Dogtown for a week of personal training. Wow! To our amazement she was trained and listened to us! She is part Chesapeake retriever which can be stubborn, but Mr. Craig had no problems with her!
Now 5 years later she is still going to Dogtown almost everyday for daycare and loves it! It’s like her second home!
The professionalism of Craig and Cindy is unsurpassed in the Kennel business. When Maggie injured her leg at daycare they paid for the complete veterinarian bill! It not a usual occurrence, but it made a difference to know he really cares and is a great business owner for the right reasons!
All we can say is that we will miss them terribly, as we’re leaving the area.
If you want a good dog, take your pups to Dogtown! You will not regret it. We are so grateful for everything they have done for our two girls! And we can’t forget to say a special thank you to Miss LaDonna! Maggie will miss being your breakfast buddy as you make up the morning feast for all the pups boarded!
